Frequently Asked Questions

The chlorinated solvents are more severely regulated than in the past (emission, exposure, labelling, etc).  Will they still be allowed to be used as solvent in the future ?

Yes, they are strictly regulated, in order to ensure a better protection of health and environment.  That means explicitely that they will continue to be allowed as solvent, as long as the good handling practices are carried out.

The global consumption of the chlorinated solvents is decreasing.  May we be sure that Solvay will continue to supply them ?

Yes, even if the consumption should still decrease in the solvent applications, Solvay will continue to supply chlorinated solvents to meet their increasing demand in the production of fluorinated derivatives : solvents, blowing agents, refrigerating fluids and polymers.
